Micellar water vs. cleansing oil – let’s break it down

What Is Micellar Water?

Remember our post about surfactants – the little cleansing “tadpoles” in shampoos and shower gels? These guys love oils and grab onto them along with dirt. Well, micellar water is basically water + surfactants.

And What About Cleansing Oil?

Simply put, it’s oils + surfactants. When mixed with water, the oil and water phases combine, creating a slightly oily gel-like texture.

Can I Wash My Face with Cleansing Oil in the Morning?

Honestly, you shouldn’t even use it every night, let alone in the morning. See, surfactant-based cleansers were originally made to remove heavy makeup. They work by capturing oil – along with everything stuck to it. That means you can’t remove makeup without disrupting your skin’s lipid barrier. And while it’s easy to damage, restoring it is a long and tricky process. In fact, 80% of our clients come to us for exactly this issue. Sure, we help bring their skin back to balance, but why damage it in the first place?

How Should You Cleanse and Remove Makeup?

Use something that respects your skin’s lipid layer and pH balance. Our go-to? THE CLEANSING FLOWER POWDER – it gently removes what your skin doesn’t need while preserving what it does.

For a skin-friendly makeup removal routine, dampen a cotton pad with water, add a few drops of light universal oil or a customized OIL BLEND from CREAMLY, and gently press it onto your eyes before wiping away makeup. Do the same for the rest of your face. Usually, 2–3 pads are enough. Follow up with Flower Powder, and voilà – clean, happy skin, ready for bed.
